GRAND PRIZE WINNER
A note from Miley Cyrus
Just a few miles from where I live in Los Angeles, there are young people living on the street who come to this city with big dreams just like all of us. There are an estimated 4,000 homeless youth living in LA and more than 1 million youth living on the street, in abandoned buildings, with friends or strangers. I’m starting this campaign not only to bring awareness to this issue, but also to raise funds to end youth homelessness. This is just the beginning for me, but we’re going to get started now by focusing on My Friend’s Place, a homeless center for young people in Hollywood.
You can support the cause by making a donation right here! For every $5 donation, you’ll be entered to win a trip for 2 to Brazil for my show in Rio de Janeiro on September 28th (airfare and hotel accommodations are included). We'll hang out backstage before the show and you’ll get the full Bangerz Tour VIP experience including 2 of the best seats in the house for my concert!
This campaign is about helping homeless youth have opportunity to find their inner power and potential – no matter what their circumstances.
About My Friend's Place
Each year, My Friend’s Place welcomes nearly 1,700 homeless youth between the ages of 12 and 25 and their children. Many are escaping abusive homes, emancipating from foster care with insufficient skills and resources, or were raised on the street to begin with. Without appropriate and compassionate intervention, the youth we serve are at risk of entering into an irreversible cycle of chronic homelessness and poverty.
My Friend’s Place provides homeless youth with opportunities to improve their psychological, intellectual and physical capacity to reach their potential and build self-sufficient lives. In collaboration with leading social services providers and educational institutions as well as over 500 volunteers, My Friend’s Place offers a free and comprehensive continuum of care that combines emergency necessities with therapeutic, health, employment and education assistance, and creative arts services.
