A note from Billie Joe Armstrong
Maybe you’ve seen what I’ve been up to with Project Chimps? They’re doing some incredible work and if you can help support them with a $10 donation, we’ll get you entered to win a trip to Los Angeles for the sold out Green Day show at the Palladium!
You can bring a friend, hang out during soundcheck, and I’ll meet up with you backstage.... and I’ll make sure you have two of the best spots to watch the show. Airfare and a hotel? We’ll throw that in, too. That’s how excited we are to have you team up with Project Chimps!
If you can donate more than $10, that’ll get you more chances to win and some extra rewards. Check out the new shirt we made with Project Chimps... I think you’ll dig it…
About Project Chimps
Project Chimps, a 236-acre sanctuary nestled among the beautiful mountains of northern Georgia, are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand new sanctuary for up to 220 chimpanzees coming out of biomedical research.
With the help of many generous donors and founding partners of the sanctuary, and with the incredibly generous support of The Humane Society of the United States, we have launched this project that will provide sanctuary for up to 220 chimpanzee residents in need. But as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our main focus (besides caring for the chimps) is fundraising in order to provide our chimpanzee residents with the quality care, nutrition, and enrichment they deserve for the rest of their lives.
Project Chimps was founded in late 2014 by a “super group” of chimpanzee, nonprofit, philanthropic, and legal experts to solve the critical question of what would happen to the hundreds of chimps still left in private biomedical research. After months of negotiations with the University of Louisiana’s New Iberia Research Center (NIRC), Project Chimps secured the agreement to permanently retire all of their chimpanzees. This was a colossal step in the right direction, and we are proud and grateful to NIRC for making this decision for the betterment of the chimpanzees in their care.
There are many chimpanzees in need and we are ready to take on this challenge, but we need support from people like you in order to make it happen. Together, we can change the lives of these chimpanzees, forever.
