GRAND PRIZE WINNER
A note from Nathan Fillion
Who wants to have lunch with yours truly? We'll have some pleasant conversation, talk about life, run lines from Firefly, or Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, or Castle...
All right, I'm getting ahead of myself. We're having lunch. We'll have a good time together, that's all I'm saying! And if you help me support The Varscona Theatre, you could win. I'll fly you and a friend out from anywhere in the world to hang out!
The Varscona Theatre means a lot to me, and your donation would really help their renovation. Every dollar adds up! If you have a moment, please read more about their work on the right side of this page. There's a lot of heart in what they do, and we need more of that in this world.
So if you join me here, you'll be supporting a really great cause AND you'll be automatically entered into a raffle to win this trip to hang out with me. We'll have a fantastically fun lunch together. I'll make sure of it!
I'll see one of you soon!
About The Varscona Theatre
The Varscona Theatre is an artist-run venue in Edmonton, Alberta which presents live theatre events to packed houses nearly every day of the year. Here, one may see plays, improv, and special concert events featuring artists from Edmonton’s incredibly diverse, enterprising, and innovative theatre community. Young artists - like the 22-year-old Nathan Fillion, who we met in 1993 - are encouraged and welcomed at the Varscona, and given the opportunity to stretch their creative wings right alongside artists of long professional standing. The work we do is original and heartfelt and utterly organic to our city, and the audience support over the years has been consistently enthusiastic and generous. Careers are forged, spectators are enlightened and entertained, and remarkably, everyone always has fun.
For the last thirty years, the Varscona has operated out of a fifty-year-old converted firehall, and for most of that time, the building has been crumbling. As warm and intimate a venue as we made it, there have always been compromises to performer safety and audience comfort. Our newly renovated facility will address these issues, providing a much more appropriate and inviting forum for the exchange between the artists and theatregoers who already call the Varscona home, and we’re sure it’ll help build new audiences as well. New audience members mingling with longtime devotees, new artists with veteran colleagues - it’s what we’re all about. Well, that and fun. Which is why Nathan Fillion drops by whenever he’s back in town.
Special thank you to photographer Allan Amato for providing Prizeo with the usage of Nathan Fillion's photo!
